Couples do not need to wait until something is wrong to dedicate time to intimacy. A relationship can be loving, connected and sexually active while still holding areas of the body, pleasure and communication that have never been fully explored together. In my work with couples, I see intimacy as something that continues to be learned as two people and their bodies change over time.
This is one of the reasons I created Kāmarasa — Multi-Orgasmic Tantric Training for Couples. I wanted to create a space where partners could step outside everyday routines and learn together through the body, exploring conscious touch, giving and receiving, arousal, communication, sexual energy, orgasmic awareness and principles from Authentic Tantra Massage by May Gonzalez. These are ten of the benefits I believe this kind of experience can offer a couple.
1. Creating Intentional Space for Your Relationship
Work, responsibilities, screens and routines take enormous amounts of our attention, and intimacy can gradually become something fitted into whatever time remains. A couples Tantra retreat creates dedicated space where the relationship itself becomes the focus. Being away from ordinary responsibilities gives partners time to practise, rest, talk, touch and simply experience each other without constantly moving toward the next task. Sometimes creating space is enough to notice parts of the relationship that everyday life has made less visible.
2. Rediscovering Your Partner’s Body
After being together for some time, it is natural to believe that we already know our partner’s body. We know familiar areas of pleasure, recognise certain responses and develop ways of touching that have worked before. But bodies, sensitivity, desire and arousal change. I encourage couples to approach a familiar body with curiosity rather than assumption. Instead of I already know what my partner likes, the exploration becomes: What is my partner’s body communicating to me now? A familiar body is not a finished map.
3. Learning to Give and Receive Pleasure
Giving pleasure and receiving pleasure are different embodied experiences. Some people feel very comfortable giving but find it difficult to simply receive without thinking about how they look, whether their partner is enjoying themselves or when they should reciprocate. Exploring these roles consciously allows the giver to develop attention and responsiveness while the receiver learns to notice sensation, communicate preferences and remain present with pleasure. Intimacy becomes less about performing for each other and increasingly about experiencing together.
4. Developing a Different Quality of Touch
This is an important part of Authentic Tantra Massage by May Gonzalez. I do not teach touch simply as a sequence of techniques to memorise. Couples learn to notice pressure, rhythm, pace, breath, movement and the subtle responses happening beneath their hands. The person touching is giving, but they are also listening through touch. Technique gives the hands possibilities; awareness teaches the hands when and how to use them. This can completely change the way partners experience a body they may have touched thousands of times before.
5. Understanding How Your Partner Becomes Aroused
Two people can experience arousal very differently. One partner may respond quickly to physical stimulation while another needs time, relaxation, anticipation or a slower progression of touch. Sound, scent, movement, breath, visual stimulation and emotional context can also influence how the body becomes receptive. Exploring these differences helps couples stop expecting two bodies to respond at the same speed or in the same way. Understanding how your partner enters pleasure can be just as important as knowing where they like to be touched.
6. Moving Beyond Familiar Sexual Routines
Couples naturally develop sexual patterns. Certain kisses lead to certain touches, attention moves toward familiar areas of the body and orgasm may become the expected destination. Familiarity can be pleasurable, but it can also become predictable. Tantra creates an opportunity to expand that landscape. Touch can remain sensual for longer, the senses can become part of erotic exploration, the whole body can participate in arousal and pleasure can rise and soften without always needing to progress immediately toward climax. Sometimes exploring something new does not require doing something extreme; it requires feeling differently what is already there.
7. Communicating About Intimacy More Clearly
Sexual communication can be difficult even between people who communicate well in everyday life. We may worry about disappointing our partner or assume they should already know what we enjoy. Conscious intimacy encourages a clearer language around pleasure: slower, softer, stay there, more pressure, pause, continue, I like this, I don’t want this. I also teach couples to observe the body without assuming they can read each other’s minds. Breath, movement and tension provide information, but communication, consent and boundaries remain essential parts of intimate exploration.
8. Exploring Sexual Energy and Orgasm Differently
Tantric practice allows couples to become interested not only in orgasm but in everything happening before, around and beyond it. Breath, movement, sound, touch and attention can influence how arousal develops and how sensation is experienced throughout the body. This is also central to the multi-orgasmic exploration within Kāmarasa. Multi-orgasmic does not mean promising a particular number of orgasms or turning pleasure into another performance goal. For me, multi-orgasmic exploration begins with the capacity to feel. When couples become increasingly aware of arousal and sensation, orgasm can be explored within a much broader landscape of pleasure.
9. Learning Together Without Trying to Fix Each Other
A couples Tantra retreat does not need to begin with a relationship problem. You can have a loving relationship and still want to understand each other’s bodies differently, expand your sexual language, explore Tantra or discover new dimensions of intimacy. I find this distinction important because it allows both partners to enter as participants rather than positioning one person as the problem and the other as the person waiting for them to change. Instead of asking What is wrong with us?, couples can begin with a much more interesting question: What have we not discovered together yet?
10. Bringing What You Learn Back Into Your Relationship
A retreat lasts a few days, but what a couple learns can continue developing long afterwards. Conscious touch, giving and receiving, communication, breath, sensory awareness and practices from Authentic Tantra Massage by May Gonzalez can be revisited privately and adapted as the relationship evolves. For me, this is essential. I want couples to leave with experiences they can continue exploring rather than something that exists only while they are inside the retreat. The retreat introduces the exploration; your relationship is where it continues.
Why I Created Kāmarasa
These ten benefits are deeply connected to why I created Kāmarasa — Multi-Orgasmic Tantric Training for Couples. I wanted couples to have a dedicated space to explore intimacy experientially through the body, learning about touch, sensation, arousal, pleasure, sexual energy, communication and each other.
Kāmarasa brings together Tantra, embodied practices, conscious touch, multi-orgasmic exploration and principles from Authentic Tantra Massage by May Gonzalez in an experience created specifically for partners to explore together. You do not need to come because something is wrong with your relationship. You can come because there may still be parts of each other you have never discovered.
If you and your partner are curious about exploring intimacy, conscious touch, pleasure and sexual energy together, discover Kāmarasa and see whether this experience is right for both of you.
